CMRS-CEGS is pleased to announce the reappointment of Solsiré Cusicanqui as a Postdoctoral Fellow affiliated with the Center and UCLA’s Fowler Museum. A Peruvian archaeologist trained at Harvard University, Cusicanqui brings together archaeology, cultural heritage, and collaborative curatorial practice through sustained partnerships with Indigenous artists, knowledge holders, and descendant communities.
During her reappointment, she will continue developing Kené: Lines of Healing, Paths of Connection, a Fowler Museum exhibition co-curated with Shipibo-Konibo artist Olinda Silvano and members of Lima’s Cantagallo community. Opening this November, the exhibition commemorates 200 years of diplomatic relations between Peru and the United States.
Cusicanqui will also lead the curatorial development of a 2028 exhibition with CMRS-CEGS Director Zrinka Stahuljak, American Indian Studies Center Director Shannon Speed, and other partners in the project “Race in the Global Past Through Native Lenses.” The exhibition will bring together the workshops, collaborations, and central themes explored throughout the project’s three years, examining how museums and universities can recognize, incorporate, and share diverse systems of knowledge. She will also prepare publications based on her collaborative research with master textile artists from San Miguel de Pallaques, Cajamarca, and her recent community archaeology projects in Peru.
